Nick Bubb

Retail Analyst

Nick Bubb joined Hardman & Co in 2021 to cover retailers.

Nick has been a leading UK retailing analyst for over 40 years and, more recently, a retailing consultant. He is a well-known commentator on UK retailing, writes the widely respected “The Daily Retailer” email note and is a founder member of the KPMG/Ipsos “Retail Think-Tank”.

He was a top-ranked sell-side analyst who ran the No 1 UK Retail research team in the mid-1980s. His career started at Rowe & Pitman, and worked at several leading brokers, including Morgan Stanley, where he developed the new concepts of “retail engineering” (EPOS and IT systems expertise) and “space bandits” (the expansionary retailers of the time). His career has included periods advising Kingfisher, Boots, Capital Shopping Centres (subsequently Intu), Asda-MFI, Burton-Debenhams and Storehouse.

He holds an MA in Philosophy, Politics & Economics from the University of Oxford.
