Undergoing major change

Inevitably, plunging share prices across the board have dominated recent financial headlines – and obscured sector developments. But, in terms of UK electricity supply, there are profound changes afoot, with coal-fired generation being phased out.

Gas-fired output, along with renewable generation – notably wind and solar – is taking coal’s place; and, in time, the new nuclear plant being constructed at Hinkley Point C will play a key base-load role. These issues – and others – are addressed in this publication.
